Malaysia’s indie game studio, ‘Kurechii’ has launched a Kickstarter campaign to fund the Metropolitan Youth Symphony Orchestra (MYSO) a recording opportunity to perform the scores composed by Francesco D’Andrea, for the soundtracks to the sequel of ‘King’s League’— an award winning management strategy game.
After less than a week of its launch, the campaign has reached their first milestone of USD 1000. At the moment, the campaign is 23% closer to its goal of raising USD 5000 to begin the live recording. This campaign also aims to be a stepping stone for MYSO to have their performed music be recorded live, and implemented into a video game. Moreover, D’Andrea will also be conducting an exclusive Skype session about music composition with MYSO, giving insights to his work and the industry.
“With this collaboration, we are hoping to give back to the community as the opportunity to have your music featured in a game does not come every day. Furthermore, we want our players to immerse in compelling game environments with new live music for better gaming experience,” said Lydia Ho, Creative Director of Kurechii, at the Level Up KL 2015 – a Southeast Asia’s regional premier convention for the Gaming Community, organised by the Multimedia Development Corporation (MDeC).
The ‘King’s League’ is a management strategy game that provides players with unique classes to build an army of their preference. With that army, they will battle in the league to conquer territories, complete quests and fight to the top. Responding to the enthusiastic response for The King's League, a sequel titled ‘King's League: Odyssey’ was released. Both the browser and mobile versions have received various awards such as IGF China 2014 (Best Game); Casual Connect Asia 2014 (Indie Prize – Best Mobile Game); and FGL – Ninja Awards 2013 (Best Strategy Game), among many others.
The campaign will run for 30 days and pledgers will be rewarded with various exclusive merchandises based on their contribution. For instance, a Digital Booklet featuring main music scores and never before seen game concept art; Kurechii tee; King’s League Royal Knight paper doll; and Limited Edition King’s League Hello Mark Set with hand-painted and carefully crafted, King’s League characters bookmarks.
