iflix Continues Rapid Expansion in Southeast Asia

One year into its establishment, Malaysia-based Internet TV service, iflix continues its rapid expansion in Southeast Asia with a succession of key appointments from regional giants and industry leaders, the latest being the company's partnership with Sky Plc, Europe’s leading entertainment company, and Emtek Group, Indonesia's second largest media group, following the successful completion on the company’s huge second round of funding.
iflix, began with a small workforce of 25 people celebrated its first anniversary this month, with a record of five partnerships with leading telecommunication providers in Malaysia, as well as Indonesia’s telco; Telkom and Indosat Ooreedoo ahead of its Indonesian launch.
"It has been an extraordinary year since we launched iflix in Malaysia and the Philippines last May. I am hugely proud of everything the team has achieved as well as the overwhelming response and demand we have received from consumers," said Mark Brit, iflix Group Co-founder and CEO.
With over 90 studio and distributor partnerships globally, the company continues to strengthen its relationships with the world’s leading providers of high-quality entertainment content bringing more first run-exclusives, award winning TV shows and movies, such as Mr. Robot Season 2, Hunters Season 1, Bosch Season 1, The Magicians Season 1 (all exclusive to iflix), and exceptionally popular Asian and local programs to iflix members across the region.

In conjunction with its one year anniversary, the OTT platform also disclosed a trend report on its members' viewership tendencies with Malaysian members watching an average of 115.11 minutes per day. The report that compiled viewership trends of iflix members across the Philippines, Malaysia and Thailand shows audience is now moving towards viewing content on the go, as more than half of the viewership came from mobile phones.
