Malaysia Networking Reception at MIDEM 2016 Opens Commercial Opportunities and B2B Linkages

The Ministry of Communications and Multimedia Malaysia (KKMM) hosted a networking reception at the Marché International du Disque et de l’Edition Musicale (MIDEM), an annual international business-to-business (B2B) event dedicated to the new music ecosystem in Cannes, France on 4th June 2016 to provide additional business linkages for the Malaysian delegation.

An estimated hundred music entrepreneurs joined the event to break the ice and further explore commercial prospects and build closer business relations. Throughout the reception, Malaysian delegates engaged in insightful discussions on music trends, innovative music technologies, digital convergence of new streaming platforms, and many more.

Khalidah Mohd Darus, Deputy Director General of FINAS representing the communication ministry at MIDEM 2016 noted that the networking opportunities and strong commercial relations are essential in developing and boosting the music industry. The reception was also an important platform for business cooperation, investments, research and development, and more.

As the only Southeast Asian country with a standing pavilion in MIDEM 2016, this year Malaysia is focusing more on the business side of the music industry to develop the country as the gateway to music in Southeast Asia.

MIDEM opens an opportunity for international music industry to discover Malaysia’s talents and vibrant music ecosystem, opening a vast possibility to export local content and services towards international collaboration in the development and promotion of Malaysia’s music industry.
