KL Chinese TV and Film Association to Organise the Inaugural Malaysia and Taiwan Film Festival

Kuala Lumpur Chinese TV and Film Association is set to organise the inaugural Malaysia and Taiwan Film Festival (MTFF) together with Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Malaysia from 19th to 27th July 2016.

The festival will introduce Golden Butterfly Award ceremony on 19th July, which aims to recognise the best talent in the entertainment industry in both countries. The award ceremony will be followed by six forum-based sharing sessions on 20th and 21st July with twelve nominated directors, actors and producers; who will be sharing their views on co-production, film production, screenplay, policy consultation and acting.

MTFF also features a week-long movie festival from 20th to 26th July at the Premium-X Cinemas, One City to showcase 42 of the nominated films. Local film, Huat The Fish garnered several nominations and the lead actor, Lin De Xiang will be one of the local male finalists for the Golden Butterfly Award.

The chairman of the Kuala Lumpur Chinese TV and Film Association, Datuk Yap Tin Sang believes that “the Golden Butterfly Award represents a colossal milestone for the organisation, subsequently representing the growth and regional significance of the association.”

The MTFF’s award ceremony will be attended by some of the biggest Malaysian and Taiwanese names in the industry; Tang Xiao-Kang, Huang Chao-Liang, Wen-Chang Huang, Gavin Lin, Pai Bing-Bing, and many more.
