Jess Teong’s Directorial Debut to Screen in Japan’s Aichi International Women's Film Festival

Following its success in various international film festivals, Malaysian award-winning film and directorial debut by Jess Teong, The Kid from the Big Apple will screen at the 17th instalment of Aichi International Women's Film Festival 2016 (AIWFF) in Japan.

The annual film festival that will be held from 7th to 11th September 2016, has supported the advancement of women in society and film industry as well as promoted international exchange of knowledge between women since its establishment.

The Kid from the Big Apple will be screened on 8th September 2016 under the Asian Movie Impact segment along with 5 other movies from Hong Kong, Japan, Pakistan, Philippines, and Taiwan.

“I am happy that The Kid from the Big Apple is still receiving invitations to new festivals and will be screened in Japan for the second time. It is an honour for the film to be screened at AIWFF together with many other great films in the list, such as Murmur of the Heart directed by Sylvia Chang," said Jess Teong.

The film has garnered over RM6 million in local box-office, and previously was screened in Japan at the Osaka Asian Film Festival (OAFF) in March 2016.
