Mamat Khalid’s third and last instalment of the ROCK!series; ROCK BRO! Kembali Ke Pangkal Jalan highlights the hard reality of 1980s rock era in Malaysia, faced by ‘Rimba Bara,’ a fictitious rock band that was famous in the late eighties.
In this third instalment, the story is narrated from the point of view of Jijo (Khir Rahman) of their journey between the period in which ‘Rimba Bara’ had already made it as a popular rock band. The film is a mixture of the rock band's rocky journey, politics in the music industry, and Jijo's love life, which all lead up to the band's demise.
"My latest work is more personal as it highlights the struggles that the band went through including the political issue and the changing scene of the local music industry in the early nineties. This is the last instalment for the ROCK!trilogy and I believe only three ROCK! movies would suffice," said the director.
Produced by Grand Brilliance and Enjit Semut, ROCK BRO! stars Khir Rahman, Pekin Ibrahim, Azmi Bahron, Sofi Jikan, Kamarool Haji Yusof and Amy Juliet. The film will also feature cameo appearances by famous Malaysian rock stars such as Datuk Hattan, Datuk Ramli Sarip, Man Kidal and Black Wings.
ROCK BRO! is set to screen on 27th October 2016.
