Ola Bola’s original soundtrack, Arena Cahaya by Zee Avi won the “Best Original Film Song” award at the recent 53rd Golden Horse Awards in Taiwan.
Co-produced by Rendra Zawawi, Arena Cahaya was nominated alongside China's It's Cold Without Your Love(Big Fish & Begonia), China's Sawadika (Detective Chinatown), Taiwan's Love Without Words (Lokah Laqi! Hang In There, Kids!), and China's (It's Not A Crime) It's Just What We Do (Soul Mate).
Zee Avi, who is a US-based Malaysian singer commented on her social media account, "I am honoured to have won this category with my first Malay song. I never would think it would transfer through language boundaries and all this proves is that music transcends all of that. It matters only that it comes from the heart, to the hearts."
Arena Cahaya also scored the trophy for the “Best Original Theme Song” at the 28th Malaysian Film Festival last September.
The Golden Horse Awards is among the most prestigious and time-honored film awards in the world of Chinese language cinema. On its 50th anniversary, the Golden Horse Awards have become the highest accolade for all Chinese-language filmmakers, and are thus considered to be the Chinese-language Oscars.
