Well-known Malaysian singer-actress, SinJe Lee, will be the ambassador for the 2nd Malaysia International Film Festival (MIFFest) and Malaysian Golden Global Awards 2018 (MGGA), for the second consecutive year, as announced during the official launching of MIFFest and MGGA yesterday, July 27, 2017, at the PNS Auditorium Tun Rahah, Kuala Lumpur.

The Alor Setar-born SinJe Lee, who is recognized locally with steady influence in the international film market, said, “It is a great honour to be a part of the MIFFest and MGGA.”

The first edition of the MIFFest successfully attracted over 100,000 audiences earlier this year and now, the highly anticipated 2nd MIFFest is set to take place from February 25 to March 2, 2018. Meanwhile, MGGA is slated to take place on March 3, 2018.

The festival is proudly supported by the National Film Development Corporation Malaysia (FINAS), Tourism Malaysia and numerous other renowned film associations in Malaysia. These events will be establishing an international platform for film cooperation and communication while, simultaneously, promoting the Malaysian entertainment industry via its sharing of diverse development of local films, art and cultural offerings to the world.

During the event, the official poster was also unveiled which depicted two faces of humanity – ‘Hope’ and ‘Despair’. This festival aims to educate the public on ways to handle moments of extreme loss and despair; to seek a glimmer of light through films, as well as to build a professional and authoritative cultural exchange platform for domestic and international films. The poster design also incorporated the iconic Petronas Twin Towers symbol as a means to show that Malaysian film industry is capable of standing tall among others.

The 2nd MGGA is currently enlisting film entries for feature-length films worldwide – regardless of the genre. The juries are on the lookout for heart-warming, boundary-breaking films and those keen on entering the ‘Malaysia Golden Globe Awards Competition’ category, can submit their application via from August 1, 2017 onwards.
