MDEC Intellectual Property Creators Challenge Winners Revealed!

Winners of the Intellectual Property Creators Challenge (IPCC) at the 6th edition of Kre8tif! Conference

Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) has announced the winners of Intellectual Property Creators Challenge (IPCC) in the animation and digital games category yesterday during its Kre8tif! Conference & Content Festival in Cyberview Resort & Spa, Cyberjaya.

IPCC, introduced in 2006, provides a platform for local talents to hone their creativity and accelerate the development and commercialization of innovative, world standard digital content as well as increasing the creation of intellectual property. Local talents can penetrate the local and global digital content market through this challenge. This year’s edition, MDEC received a total of 76 submission with 37 making it to the final round.

Dato’ Ng Wan Peng, Chief Operating Officer of MDEC, presented a mock cheque of RM50,000 each to the winners of the Animation Series to develop a three-minute sizzle (demo) animation including a full character bible whereas the winners of the Digital Games category each received RM50,000 to develop a commercial-ready game. Meanwhile, winners of the Short Animation category each took home RM75,000 to develop a five to seven-minute animation including a full character bible.

The Intellectual Property Creators Challenge (IPCC) award presentation was witnessed by a room full of prominent figures such as Shuzo John Shiota, President of Polygon Pictures Inc., Silas Hickey, Senior Director of Turner International, Asia Pacific, Rich Magallanes, Senior Vice President of Saban International, Leslie Lee, Executive Director of The Walt Disney Company, Southeast Asia, Sanoop Luke, Lead of YouTube Kids & Learning, SEA+ANZ (Singapore), and many other similarly notable names within the animation industry who were the featured speakers at the 6th edition of Kre8tif! Conference.
