WebTVAsia Elevates BoBoiBoy to Reach 2.5 Billion Viewers

Monsta, renowned for Malaysia’s very own hit animated 3D series BoBoiBoy, announced its new international partnerships with WebTVAsia. This collaboration results in reaching out to China and India market, hitting a total of 2.5 billion viewers. The event took place at Komune, Bangsar South City, yesterday, with the support of Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) and WebTVAsia.

Monsta’s pride and joy, BoBoiBoy, is now available in 55 countries, including it’s latest addition; China and India. With combined knowledge and experience gained in the past, the founders of Monsta have set up Animonsta Studios with aims to bring universal content with a local touch to both Local and International Market. 

The animation content developer struck an exclusive acquisition deal with China’s Tencent Video, the dominant video streaming platform with over 457 million monthly active users, to bring BoBoiBoy into the China market. WebTVAsia acted as BoBoiBoy’s distribution and localisation partner. All 3 seasons of the BoBoiBoy TV series and the feature film BoBoiBoy The Movie will be fully dubbed into mainland Mandarin language. The acquisition deal is worth over 7 figures in renminbi (RMB).

Monsta also announced its acquisition deal with Disney Channel India to broadcast the BoBoiBoy series and BoBoiBoy The Movie to the whole Indian sub-continent, which includes Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, the Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, Seychelles and Sri Lanka. In the region, BoBoiBoy will be shown in 4 languages i.e. Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and English.

Now this dream is a reality as millions of viewers from across the world are enjoying our animated shows with our Malaysian identity.” He also added that they are currently in the works of producing BoBoiBoy The Movie 2 and is set to released in 2019.

Furthermore, Monsta acquired a merchandising deal with Japan’s Takara Tomy to produce the BoBoiBoy Galaxy TOMICA toy series which was released to the Malaysian market this year, and has also partnered with Gameloft to produce BoBoiBoy Galaxy Run, a mobile game on both Android and iOS.

With the release of BoBoiBoy in China and India, Monsta hopes that the brand will become more popular with kids internationally and open up new opportunities for the Malaysian animation industry.
