RISE has raised the bar for the Malaysian patriotic movie. It is definitely up there with the classics, Sarjan Hassan, Leftenan Adnan and many other Malaysia patriotic movie that we see on the television in August and now September.

The movie helps us to relive the history of our great nation. As the producer, Mr. Fred Chong said, “This film is made by a truly multi-racial team of directors and actors in the spirit of New Malaysia. I hope all Malaysians will watch “Rise” and remember that this is just the beginning of our journey to becoming a united and prosperous nation again.”

The movie plotted a story of six different Malaysian individuals which were represented by a talented cast,  Mark O’dea as Marcus, a seasoned British reporter, Shashi Taran characterized  as a kind and charitable foreign worker agency owner, Selva, Mira Filzah’s beautiful portrayal of Fizah, Malaysian student abroad, Remi Ishak incredible performance as the “trapped-in-between” policeman Azman, Sangeeta’s outstanding approach as the primary school music teacher, Shanti, and Jack Tan as Leong, a castaway Malaysian living in Singapore.

The world premiere of the movie hosted by WebTVAsia garnered 1,600 film lovers which include talented stars and dignitaries alike. Among notable ones are the Communications and Multimedia Minister, Mr. Gobind Singh, who launched the premier, Transport Minister, Mr. Anthony Loke, Youth & Sports Minister Syed Saddiq, Technology, Science, Climate Change and Environment Minister Yeo Bee Yin, Deputy Minister of the Family and Community Development Hannah Yeoh, the leading actors and the notable supporting actors such as Sweet Qismina, Sharifah Sakinah, Yana Samsudin, Dato’ Jalaludin Hassan and more.
