2 IoT and Robotics Enabled Experimental Projects for the MSC Malaysia APICTA Award Winning Entries Recognised at the PIKOM ICT Awards 2018

Approximately 1,200 guests attended the annual PIKOM Annual Dinner and ICT Awards 2018 at the Majestic Hotel Kuala Lumpur. The annual dinner also saw the MSC Malaysia APICTA Awards presentation to the outstanding individuals, students, entrepreneurs, SMEs and organizations in Malaysia who have contributed to the development of the MSC Malaysia initiatives and built applications and services for the benefit of Malaysians alike. The award was the brainchild of The National ICT Association of Malaysia (PIKOM) and Malaysia Digital Economic Corporation (MDEC).

Some of the notable award winners are the students of SJK(C) Yuk Chai for their Air Project. These primary school talents’ project was aimed at educating the mass of small-scale farming which was capable of being implemented at home. This idea was to increase the interest of farming between the younger generations. SJK(C) Yuk Chai along with 7 other Malaysian institutes has been announced as our representatives in the upcoming 18th International Asia Pacific ICT Alliance Awards (APICTA), which will be held in October 2018 at Guangzhou, China.

Taking the time to properly introduce his new Ministry, the Minister of Entrepreneur Development (MED), Tuan Mohd Redzuan bin Md. Yusof, the Guest of Honor of the night expressed his encouragement to the Malaysian representative for APICTA, “PIKOM has informed me that some of the nominees for the awards tonight are of primary school-going age and I think this is simply remarkable! In this context, I am pleased to share my Ministry is also currently working with the Ministry of Youth and Sports to develop suitable policies and programs that can help boost youth entrepreneurship in the country. This is part of the PH manifesto to set up a Youth Entrepreneurs Empowerment Fund worth RM1billion.”

13 SMEs, individuals, entrepreneurs and organizations will be joining them competing for the top spot against 16 other countries. The international award is part of the campaign to help increase the awareness in the community and assist in bridging the digital divide for each of the member economies in the alliance.

The annual dinner also saw the awarding of PIKOM Leadership Awards, which saw Affin Bank winning the ICT Organization Excellence. In addition, PIKOM anointed Chong Kin of QSR Group and Sher Khan Akbar Khan of UEM Group with the CIO Excellence Award. The night also witnessed the launch of the PIKOM Magazine my.iT by the Minister of Entrepreneur Development, Tuan Mohd Redzuan bin Md. Yusof.
