Banglasia 2.0 bandwagon rolls on into its second week on cinemas with a first 4-day box office collection of over RM 1 million, while surging interests from Bangladesh is likely to lead to a major theatrical release there soon. A clearly delighted Namewee, who is both director and lead actor in the film, said, “I wish to thank all my Malaysian viewers for coming out in droves over the weekend that encouraged cinema operators to extend its screening for another week.” The movie director, whose real name is Wee Meng Chee, is popular for producing several controversial movies such as Nasi Lemak 2.0 and Hantu Gangster.

“I also learned that we will be the first feature film starring Malaysian and Bangladeshi actors to debut on silver screens in Bangladesh, after receiving tremendous commercial enquiries. Hearing my character’s voice dubbed in Bengali will be quite interesting, so Dhaka here we come!” He said. Besides Namewee, the movie stars Bangladeshi actor Nirab Hossain, Singaporean actress Atikah Suhaime and Malaysian artistes Saiful Apek and David Arumugam.

Banglasia is a movie about an immigrant from Bangladesh who comes to Malaysia for work. The story is about his struggles in getting enough money while facing all the controversial issues that surround Malaysia. This movie was produced by the digital media platform, WebTVAsia, and is 90-minutes long. May Banglasia 2.0 continue to attract the locals and get more recognition from Malaysians.
